There's nothing worse than running out of your favourite 10ml e-liquid and having to wait around for your next delivery. If you're finding your usual eliquids just aren't lasting long enough, then shortfills might be the solution for you. We have a large selection of 50ml and 100ml e-liquids available from some of the most popular brands. Some of these are Over the Border, Drifter and Seriously Fruity by Doozy Vape Co.
What are shortfills and why do they exist?
Shortfills are larger bottles of nicotine free e-liquid. The TPD (Tobacco Products Directive) placed restrictions on vape kits, bottle sizes and replacement pods & coils. Since then, bottles containing nicotine can only hold 10ml of liquid. Tanks and pods have a maximum capacity of 2ml.
This became a big concern for both manufacturers and customers, as it would inevitably lead to an increase in price. It became impossible to produce and ship e-liquids in larger, more cost-effective quantities. To combat the problem, manufacturers created shortfills. This ensured customers could continue to purchase the quantities that they needed without breaking the bank. It also put an end to vapers having to fill their pockets with 10ml bottles!
The key to the success of shortfills is that they don't contain nicotine, so they can be sold in bottles of any size. A shortfill is essentially a slightly underfilled bottle of nicotine-free e-liquid. You can top these up with either nicotine shots or salt shots to create e-liquid with the strength you want.
The best shortfills are made with higher concentration. This means you won't lose flavour when you dilute them with nic shots.
How do I use shortfills with nicotine shots?
A nicotine shot is a flavourless 10ml e-liquid that you pour into your shortfill to create a low strength liquid. It's also completely safe to vape them on their own, but it would be virtually tasteless - so we wouldn't recommend it! You can choose between either a freebase nicotine shot for a stronger throat hit, or a nic salt shot, which will provide a smoother vaping experience.
Shortfills can also be mixed with stronger, flavoured 10ml e-liquids. We accept no responsibility for any disasters you may concoct though! Mixing fruit flavoured shortfills mixed with mint or menthol flavours is a popular combination. We do also offer cool shots instead, which might help minimise the risk of any flavour disasters!
We sell a range of sizes of shortfills to suit your needs. Here at 888 Vapour, we have a huge variety available in 50ml, 100ml and 200ml bottles. 18mg nic shots are our most popular ones, so there's no tricky maths involved.
So when you buy a 100ml shortfill, you simply top it up with two 10ml nicotine or salt shots. This creates a 120ml e-liquid with a 3mg nicotine strength.
This allows you to create a whopping 180ml 3mg strength e-liquid, perfect for sub-ohm vaping. The space leftover means you also have the option to top it up with another two shots, giving you a slightly stronger 4.5mg 200ml e-liquid.
What are the best kits to use with shortfill e-liquids?
Shortfills typically have a high VG concentration, with most sold in a 70VG/30PG ratio. We recommend sub-ohm vape kits and coils with more airflow and wicking for the higher VG content.
Shortfills with a high PG concentration are still available though. The Ice Drop E-Liquid, for example, has a ratio of 40VG/60PG, perfect for MTL vaping.
Do shortfills offer the same range of flavours?
You don't need to sacrifice your favourites for a bigger bottle! Shortfills are available in the same vast range of flavours as the 10ml liquids.
It's worth bearing in mind though that thicker, dessert flavoured e-liquids, like the Double Drip Cherry Bakewell Tart, work better in sub-ohm devices as they require a higher temperature to really bring out their flavour. Thicker juices don't work as well in MTL kits as there is much less cotton to wick the thicker juice, so you'll find yourself replacing the coil constantly. On the other hand, thinner juices often cause sub-ohm devices to leak. The higher the PG concentration, the thinner the e-liquid, which is why low PG e-liquids are recommended for sub-ohm devices.
To help you pick out your new go-to shortfill, our website allows you to filter the liquids into bottle sizes, VG/PG ratios and vendors. Take your pick from our wide range of flavour profiles too, featuring our more adventurous varieties including drinks, fruits and cereals.
