Is there a rise in underage vaping and how do we combat this issue?
Despite it being illegal to sell the devices to those under 18, underage vaping has been on the rise.
Research shows a sharp increase in underage vaping over the last five years, with the percentage of 16 to 18-year-olds who say they use e-cigarettes doubling in the last year alone, according to Action on Smoking and Health.
It is common knowledge that many disposable brand names appeal to young consumers with their packaging, flavours, and marketing. Now, child respiratory doctors are criticising the government for ignoring warnings about the dangers of authorising the sale of e-cigarettes in kid-friendly packaging with flavours based around sweets, popular drinks and desserts, most of which contain 2% nicotine, the highest amount permitted in the UK.
One of the main factors contributing to the issue is the ease with which children can obtain vapes from corner stores, older siblings, or even their parents. This is further enhanced by many shops recognising the popularity of vapes (in particularly disposables) with teenagers and take advantage of this by turning a blind eye to following the age-restrictive laws. At 888 Vapour, we want to ensure that our age-restricted e-cigarette products are kept out of the hands of minors, which is why we have teamed up with 1account in order to verify our customers age at point of sale.
When you place an order with us, you will be taken through to your order confirmation page. If you have not been age verified by 1account previously, a pop-up will appear that will ask you to enter your information in order for your identity to be confirmed.
Alternatively, all of our store staff are trained to use the Challenge 25 policy with all customers and this policy is taken extremely seriously to ensure customer safety.
